Nothing's Gonna Slow Me Down!

Even though Skylar has a cast on her right leg, it hasn't slowed her down. She has adjusted well to having it on and is getting around just as good as she was before she had it....she's even started to walk a few steps on her cast. Her day hasn't changed much and she still enjoys doing the same things she did before. Skylar is also now in her third week of school at Daniel Island Academy, and she is adjusting well and loves her teachers and new friends, whom she talks about all the time.

Skylar's new addition to her bedtime routine is that she sleeps with
each of the items shown above: a baby doll, a pair of shorts,
her goodnight book, and her Pooh.

She loves playing with Amy's work shoes and putting them on her hands

Someone has taught her to put everything on her head.....not sure who that was though ;-)

She loves playing with the wooden spoon and bowl......sometimes it's
a musical instrument, and sometimes she turns it over and pretends to stir

Skylar has rediscovered the fun of climbing in Riley's crate and does
it at least once a day now whether Riley is in it or not!

Skylar loves playing in the pantry and taking everything out of it

But she is not partial to just the pantry....she also enjoys taking
everything out of the refrigerator

She enjoys sitting in her chair....especially at night before she goes to bed

And she doesn't care what position the chair is in

Skylar is usually exhausted at the end of the day

Fractured Tibia Blues

On Friday Skylar was practicing her Ninja quiet walk and snuck up behind me in the laundry room. When I backed out of the door, I stepped on her foot and she fell down. We were worried when she didn't want to walk and would fall down when she tried. So, we took her to an emergency medical center, where they did xrays and determined that there was not a break. Then, 6 days later on Thursday she still wasn't walking and we were sent to an orthopedist by her peditricin, who looked at the SAME xrays and determined within 5 seconds that she had a fractured tibia. So, a bright orange leg cast is now part of her fashion ensemble for the next 4 weeks! She's doing great and doesn't seem to mind it too much....and she loves the color....orange is her favorite!!!!

"Hey....this cast is the same color as my Goldfish crackers!"

Scooby Dooby Doo, Where R U?

After she got home from school on Monday, she sat in her chair and played and watched a little bit of an episode of Scooby Doo. As you can tell she seems to be quite entralled with Scooby and those pesky kids!

(Keep in mind that she actually has a fractured tibia in
this picture.....you would never know it!!)

Giving Tinker Bell kisses on her chair

Pass Me That Magazine, Please!

Skylar has began looking at our magazines. At first we were hesitant to let her have them because we were afraid she would just rip them up. But, we soon realized that she actually flips through them and looks at them. Her favorites are the TV Guide, People, and Redbook. If I didn't know better I would think she was actually reading all the tabloid gossip in them.

My 1st Day at Daniel Island Academy

Skylar started at Daniel Island Academy on Monday. She was really excited to be going "bye-bye" with Mommy in the morning. She did really well at school and the teacher said that she would share her toys with her friend Katie when she was crying to try and make her feel better.

"BYE-BYE, BYE-BYE!!!"

Goodbye Exersaucer

We finally decided it was time to take apart Skylar's exersaucer since she is too tall to actually use it anymore. She wanted to sit in it one last time and play before it went off to the magical world of storage.

Skylar decided that crawling and playing on Mom would be a good
substitute for her exersaucer
